Some personal information

The latest update about me is that I got married last December 22, 2022 to David James.

I am 30 years old (as of this writing), sex assigned at birth is female, and my SOGIE is female. I am an Aries sun, Scorpio moon, and Cancer rising.

The first few hours of my life, I was named “Girl” Balais, lol. So, legit that when you call me, “Girl,” I am really “Girl” hahaha.

Right now, aside from working, what makes me busy is my impulsive decision to go back to school! Lol, huhu. I am enrolled in the Master of Social Work program of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

Next, James and I are parents of the two furbabies we lovingly call Bonchongkong and Kaschot (real names are Butchukoy and Kastiel.)

Let's start with my talents and skills

My main strength is music. I am in tune and I can follow beats. I sing. I play instruments such as piano, guitar, and ukulele, and though I am not a percussion person, I do a little beat of beatboxing.

I am capable of simple dancing. Lol. But I am not really a dancer. I can follow simple steps and… I’m just a regular person who can dance if required.

I also feel that I have a talent with words. I can write poems and fictional Filipino stories. My mind is creative and imaginative. I can turn poems into songs.

I can also educate people (and dogs!). I know educating, for some, is an easy task. Like it is a natural skill. But maybe because of life experiences combined with professional preparation, I am quite good at it.

Then, my many hobbies and interests

Some of my hobbies emanate from my talents and skills. I do play instruments and sing when I have free times. The funny thing is, I usually rent a videoke and sing from morning ’til sleeping time at night (good thing there’s curfew). Singing alleviates anxiety and stress. I am always singing songs of Adele, Miley Cyrus, Paramore, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, Aegis, Sarah Geronimo, among others. I just loooove singing.

I am also interested in writing stories or poems. I am a firm believer that writing can be both strictly technical or eclectic (no rules, what works works). Anything can be a poetry. Every year, on my personal Facebook account, I create an album which serves as the depository of my thoughts and poetry. I call it “Recycle Bin [year]”.

I read tarot cards and some other types of cartomancy (i.e., oracle cards and lenormand). I really find tarot cards as helping tools to unearth my thoughts and potentials. I have a separate website for that persona of me.

In the later part of 2022, I started journaling and scrapbooking again. I super love doing this; it’s cathartic and it helps me remember the memories and feel positive about it.

Here's what I do, professionally

Social Worker

By profession, I am a registered social worker. Currently, I am employed at ACTION, Inc. – a child-focused non-government organization as the Head of Operations for the National Capital Region. To date, I am already 6+ years employed here and still enjoying every bit of the experience. I do supervision, direct implementation, networking, advocacies, and do a lot of writing (reports and proposals, lol).

Virtual Assistant

On the side, I also work as a virtual assistant for a spiritual business in Atlanta, Georgia. I love doing this so much because I am learning about spirituality and at the same time, digital marketing. My tasks include search engine optimization, assisting in the website management, co-creating social media posts, and digital marketing in general.

Tarot Practitioner

I have already told you above that I read tarot. I started this business in 2021 and have read for over a hundred people already. You can check out my services here.

TLDR: I'm weird and I'll write about it.

So that’s basically me and what I do in this lifetime. I have a lot of habits and hobbies, which, for some, might be weird. I’m embracing this life whole-heartedly and all the people who are in for it.

The big question, what’s this blog all about? Well, easy.
